Course Description
This 18-hour LU/HSW course provides architects and design professionals with a comprehensive understanding of safe and efficient construction project delivery, Indigenous reconciliation, and climate-resilient design strategies within the built environment. Participants will examine the full construction life cycle, including project planning, scheduling, labor and resource coordination, cost control, and project financing, with an emphasis on safe, efficient, and timely project delivery. The program also explores key climate risks affecting urban areas and the role of design professionals in creating resilient and enduring cities through nature-based solutions, regenerative approaches, and integrated, place-based planning. Emphasis is placed on culturally informed practices and collaboration with Indigenous communities to ensure socially responsible and equitable outcomes. Architects will learn to apply practical strategies that balance technical project management with environmental stewardship and community engagement, fostering safe, sustainable, and resilient projects that enhance occupant health, safety, and welfare while supporting climate adaptation and cultural reconciliation goals.
