Construction Administration , A Required Course You Should Learn Now 18 Core LUs
The AIBC Online Course Portal provides access to the AIBC’s mandatory courses, which are part of the requirements for Intern Architects AIBC and Broadly Experienced Applicant (BEA) candidates prior to registration as Architects AIBC. The mandatory courses available through the Online Course Portal are:
• Architects and the Law
• B.C. Building Code
• Construction Administration
A new course, Business Fundamentals for Architectural Firms, will also soon be available. This course is designed for architects who are interested in starting an architectural firm in British Columbia.
Completion of courses taken through the AIBC Online Course Portal are eligible for Learning Units (LUs) under the AIBC’s Continuing Education System (CES). Course completion and LUs will be recorded to all applicable AIBC registrants’ CES transcript within two weeks of completion.
This 18 hours training program was specifically designed and created for BC architects, engineers, designers and professionals to know how the province is working to encourage the development of net-zero buildings, the development of energy-efficiency requirements for new buildings.

Program description:
The objectives of the course are to provide in a single volume, a compendium of the best of the current knowledge and practices in the BC energy step code. The course will go through the following topics in residential construction and provide insights to the BC architects.
We will go through the following 8 modules to introduce the concept of the BC Energy Step Code to the BC architects so architects would be able to “know” the requirements.

Module 2 - Meeting the BC Energy Step Code by Design
Module 3 - Building Science for the BC Energy Step Code
Module 4 - Building Envelope Options for the BC Energy Step Code
Module 5 - Air Barriers for the BC Energy Step Code
Module 6 - Mechanical Systems for the BC Energy Step Code
Module 7- Building Envelope Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Module 8 - BC Energy Step Code Project Management
